Syd had a lot
of ideas of what she would do and who she would be. She has the love of
her life she's known since they met as children, and then became an
enduring couple in middle school. She had a great education, great
friends, a great life.
She was walking home from work when she
got caught in the crossfire of a battle between a vampire and a vampire hunter. The vampire
was nothing like she had heard or seen in shows or movies. She was a
nice woman, and wounded badly. She seemed desperate when she came around
that corner and smashed into Syd, like whatever was chasing her was
somehow more scary than an undead creature that has to feed on the blood
of humans.
It was quick, and
it was messy. It was a feeling that her very life was being pulled out
of her carotid artery, and when she finally saw the hunter that was
attacking this woman, Syd she realized that there actually was something
worse than the vampire killing her.
Out of desperation, the
vampire begged her to help fight in exchange for her life. Syd agreed
out of survival instinct, and immediately felt something new push into
the very place her life was flooding from. She was able to lash out hard
enough to make that hunter retreat, and she hadn't seen him since.
7 months later that
same hunter found them again, and Syd lost the only person she knew
in her new life in the most grusome way imaginable. She escaped once
again, but he vowed to hunt her down and finish what he started.
In that time
she had reconnected with her love, Pierce, who was looking for her
thinking she was lost to her vampirism. He had trained to be a vampire
hunter in that time she was gone, but there was no fight. With only a
few words, they both immediately reconnected. She may have been a
vampire, but she found she never had a single urge to ever hurt him.
This made her feel safe.
She lost that safety when The Hunting Party found the two of them, and
Pierce was killed at the hands of a hunter working for The Litigator.
That hunter was Simon Polidori, on assignment.
For some reason he decided to make a phone call after having murdered
her lover in cold blood, and he looked confused and betrayed. This was
the only thing that stopped Syd from killing him, but where she took him
after beating his ass, no one has been able to determine.
